NAPO Statement on Organized Violence in Los Angeles
Alexandria, VA – The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) joins the nation in expressing our outrage regarding the organized violence in Los Angeles. Make no mistake, it is organized, and it is violent. Law enforcement officers, deputies, agents, and agencies are clearly being targeted for their efforts to enforce the law. Deadly weapons and incendiaries are being used against the men and women risking their lives to restore order. Craven politicians are blaming the officers, deputies, and agents, instead of denouncing those trying to kill, injure, and intimidate LEOs and the public at large. The “average” citizen, who simply desires to go to work and have their family safe, desperately wants and hopes for police protection and a peaceful city.
These officers, deputies, and agents exemplify the very highest standards and traditions of the heroic sacrifices of American law enforcement as they place their own lives at risk in an attempt to serve and protect others who are in dire need. Please do keep these officers, deputies, and agents, their families, and coworkers in your hearts and prayers.
The National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO) is a coalition of police units and associations from across the United States. Founded in 1978, NAPO now represents more than 1,000 police units and associations, and some 250,000 sworn law enforcement officers, including the Officers of the Los Angeles Police Department and the Deputies of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.
